WB-Cedar, an early maturing WestBred® wheat, is still a great variety in central and eastern Kansas, northern Oklahoma, and down into central Texas. It also does very well under irrigation in western Kansas. It is high tillering, has excellent straw strength, and very good winterhardiness. WB-Cedar is resistant to powdery mildew and moderately resistant to leaf rust and stripe rust. It also features good drought tolerance for tough conditions but it may be short in very dry years.
